If you’re going to start a keto diet this new year, but you might be wondering what to buy for keto? You can find the bulk of your food at the grocery store (bring my beginner keto grocery list keto shopping list printable with you!) but due to quality or availability, it’s best to purchase some keto products online. If you’re in a rural area like I am, Amazon will save you some time and frustration.
Ok, it’s time to start a keto diet! Now here’s what to buy for keto before you head to the grocery store.
What to Buy for Keto
Ketone Strips – Optional, but nice to have when you start a keto diet and you’re wondering if this whole ketosis thing is working or worth it. I was surprised at how quickly I got into ketosis after getting started with keto, and without the strips, I would never have known. It gave me the encouragement I needed to keep going. Veteran keto dieters may not whiz on ketone strips as often, but if you’re wondering what to buy for keto when you’re just getting started, make sure they are at the top of your list. They can also help you decide if “lazy keto” (not religiously tracking macros) will work for you.
Ghee – You’ll be eating a lot of butter (and literally drinking it down if you make Bulletproof coffee) so make sure you’re putting the clarified, grass-fed kind into your body.
MCT Oil – Speaking of Bulletproof coffee, you might want to use MCT oil in your recipe rather than coconut oil. MCT (medium chain triglyceride) oil is found in coconut oil, but purists like to use MCT oil straight to get into ketosis faster.
Blender – You can’t just melt and stir Bulletproof coffee. It just doesn’t mix well. Plus, blending it up creates a lovely, foamy texture that makes it more enjoyable. I’ve had my Ninja Blender for over 2 years now and love it. Use it as a blender for your BP coffee or as a food processor for tough jobs like grinding up macadamia nuts to use in Keto recipes. I grouped this with keto products online just because you can often find a better deal on a Ninja on Amazon. Comparison shop and if you find one cheaper at Walmart, let me know!
Instant Pot – Completely optional but amazing to have, using an Instant Pot when you start a keto diet will save you time, plan ahead, and stay on track. Check out my Instant Pot Keto Recipes for ideas! Since you’ll be eating plenty of eggs, this stackable egg steamer rack is nice to have too.
Moon Cheese – If you’re lucky, you can find Moon Cheese at your local Starbucks or Target (and trust me, you’ll want to find it.) Our small town stores don’t carry it so I purchase these keto products online. Get the variety pack to see which of these freeze-dried cheese you’ll like best. You might be surprised! I’m not a huge straight-up cheddar fan, but when it comes to Moon Cheese I’m a cheddar head. The sharp flavor and crunchy texture just do it for me.
Essential Oils– Applying Dill essential oil to your wrist may help curb sugar cravings. It works for me! Yes, you’ll smell like a pickle. Young Living Vitality™ Essential Oils are intended for dietary supplement and culinary use. From Cinnamon Bark to Tangerine, you’ll want to use them to flavor foods without adding carbs. I have used Young Living brand exclusively for 4 years for all these reasons. I’d be happy to chat more and help you get started on your journey to wellness (I’ll even send you some gifts to equip you along the way!) For the love of God, don’t ingest “essential oils” from big box stores. Young Living’s Vitality™ line is labeled and legal to be sold for dietary use due to the contents and product purity.
Now that you know what to buy for keto, which of these keto products online will you start with? Good luck getting started with keto and save some Moon Cheese for me, please!
