Monster crafts for kids need to be cute, fun, and not at all scary. This monster Halloween craft certainly fits the bill! Try making these Monster votive holders with your kids this Halloween for some no-so frightening family fun.
My kids are super sensitive to anything scary. It’s difficult to even take them to some stores this time of year with all the scary merchandise out. They especially don’t care for the giant inflatables and other yard decorations on display at our local hardware store. If I’m being honest, I don’t really care for it either. Guess they come by their sensitivity honestly!
This little monster Halloween craft is about as far from scary as it gets. It’s nice to be able to craft together during the Halloween season without worrying about frightening little ones.
Monster Halloween Craft
Small terra cotta flower pot
Green rock filling (Dollar Tree)
Green craft paint
White and black craft felt
Battery operated votive
1. Begin by applying two coats of craft paint to the terra cotta pot. Wait for coats to dry in between applications for best coverage.
2. In the meantime you can start working on the monster face. Cut out two large white circles and two small black circles out of the craft felt. Combine them with a few drops of glue to create eyes.
3. Once the paint is dry, fill the inside of the pot with the gravel. You can add the battery operated votive at this time.
4. Assemble the face of the monster. Glue on the set of eyes and create a stitch mouth using the black permanent marker (Sharpie works great.)
Your mini monster votive holder is now ready to be displayed! Hope you have a happy Halloween with your little monsters.
